Believe in Me – Donovan moves to a small Oklahoma town in’64 to accept a teaching job, although when he gets there he learns he has been assigned to coach the girls basketball team. What is more, the girls have no self respect and little help from the school. Authentic heartland account transcends above its recognizable underdog recipe. Donovan and Mathis as his supportive wife are first rate. Cast includes Jeffrey Donovan, Samantha Mathis, Bruce Dem, Bob Gunton, Heather Matarazzo, Alicia Lagano, and Chris Ellis. (108 minutes, 2007)
Mrs. Brown, You’ve got a Lovely Daughter – A silly reprieve for a film, with Herman and his Hermits heading for London to enter their greyhound in a race. In between the expectation they harmonize “There’s a Sort of Quiet All around the Planet” Cast includes Herman’s Hermits, Stanley Holloway, Mona Washbourne, Sara Caldwell, and Javelin Percival. In God We Trust – Uninformed friar Feldman takes off to L.A. to create money for his monastery. This motion picture is a comedy that is unfortunately not funny starring Richard Pryor, who is cast as God.
